The Story of TaxGrrrl

Once upon a time, not very long ago, TaxGrrrl was just an ordinary woman, like many of you. A quiet, shy, somewhat obscure geek, TaxGrrrl dutifully gathered all of her statements, receipts and forms and sent them off to an accountant each year. And each year the accountant asked for her signature and told her how much she had to pay, or how much she would get back. And she had no real understanding of how the number was arrived at, or how it could be (legally) altered. Sound familiar? TaxGrrrl is an exceptionally curious and intelligent individual and, true to form, she had question after question for her accountant trying to understand what effect something would have, or what a particular option meant, or any one of a thousand things. Now, you may have run across tax professionals in your days who didn't like to be bothered. Who didn't want to take the time to answer your questions or explain your options. Who didn't return your phone calls, faxes, or emails until it was too late. These were just the sort of "Professionals" that TaxGrrrl had dealings with. And one day she simply decided she had had enough. She wanted to know how the game was played and how to play it well. She wanted to understand the laws and the options and the possibilities. She wanted answers to all those questions noone wanted to be bothered with.

So TaxGrrrl started to learn. She completed extensive training to rave reviews from those who taught her, and was than qualified and certified to do her own taxes. No longer did she need to rely on others who had no time for her needs and no patience for the way she did things. And she was pleased.

Than TaxGrrrl started to think. She was not the only one in the world who needed to complete their taxes. She was not the only one who had questions and confusion. She was not the only one who would appreciate a Tax Professional who was competent, patient, and a bit non-standard.

So TaxGrrrl set out on a quest to group together a diverse band of tax preparing professionals, all working together to provide the best service possible to a diverse clientelle. First, she decided to partner with AATS (Associated Accounting and Tax Services), a full service accounting firm in business since 1934. As a new AATS partner, TaxGrrl attained access to their All-Powerful Tax Software, as well as extensive resources of both human and non-human varieties.

Next, she partnered with Christine, an experienced independent CPA, liscenced by the state of Virginia. Christine has dedicated more then 10 years of her life to helping a wide variety of individual and corporate clients keep track of their finances, manage their money, and hold onto as much of it as they legally can every year around April 15th. Unfortunately, as happens sometimes in life, Christine had a personal emergency which has required her time and attention and she was not be able to join TaxGrrrl for the 2005 season. Christine has now returned to TaxGrrrl after taking the 2005 season off. We are very excited by her return.

TaxGrrrl is ever on a quest for more knowlege and new and better ways to serve her clients. She felt that AATS did not live up to her standards of customer service and has thus decided to strike out on her own. She has spent much of her time keeping up with changes in the tax law, devising new forms to simplify the process further for her clients, and broadening her knowledge base with a variety of CPE coursework as well as networking with other professionals across the country. She has jumped through all the necessary hoops to allow her to e-file state and federal returns directly for all 50 states, a function she knows will save her clients a good deal of time of energy.

TaxGrrrl is eagerly anticipating both re-helping returning clients and showing new folks that taxes don't have to be stressful and they don't have to be scary. They just have to be filed.
